Which might sound like your idea of hell, or might be just your cup of tea... for those who would welcome occasional news updates on those issues in which they're interested, this sounds a really good idea. For instance, I find it a massive help to receive a weekly text message from the City Council telling me whether it's a green or blue box recycling week. Full details below.

Residents of Oxford are being encouraged to sign up to the Oxford City Council online Newscast System to receive regular, automatic email updates on everything going on in Oxford.

Residents can choose the topics they're interested in and the City Council will send an email containing new information and offers when they become available.

Residents can chose to receive updates from the Council on the following topics: Business, Area Committees, Planning, Leisure, Environment, Community, Council, Transport and Parking, Housing or all of the above. New topics will become available as the system develops.
