Neighbourhood policing soon to be on the Headington beat6.18.00pm GMT Sun 3rd Feb 2008 This Wednesday, 6th February, sees the very first meeting of the Headington North Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG). The Headington North NAG forms part of the Neighbourhood Policing programme that will be fully operational nationally by April 2008. In Oxford there will be 12 area based NAGs operating by April 2008. Currently eight are fully operational with the other four (including Headington North) holding their first meetings during February. NAGs typically meet every 6-8 weeks. The NAG is a partnership group created to problem solve and tackle local residents community safety priorities. The partners who will typically sit on the NAG will include: Thames Valley Police, Oxford City Council, Oxfordshire County Council, local residents groups and associations, voluntary groups, Neighbourhood Watch, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, University representatives, Health Service / PCT to name a few. The aim is to get a group of people together who are 'doers' and can act to help resolve local community safety concerns.
