Consultation with the public on the long-awaited London Road traffic study is to start later this month.

(For the background to this study, please read my earlier story, 'Date set for London Road traffic study', www.stephentall.org.uk/news/86.html).

Oxfordshire County Council commissioned transport planning consultants Halcrow to identify measures to improve the London Road between The Plain and the Green Road roundabout. The key aims are:

1. To improve bus journey times and bus reliability;

2. To ensure that bus services are attractive and convenient for people to use; and

3. To improve road safety, especially in the Headington shops and St Clement's area.

This will be a major item on the agenda at the North East Area Committee meeting on Tuesday, 21st June, which will, appropriately enough, take place at St Andrew's School on the London Road. (Regular readers will know there are many concerns about the road safety of children and parents there.)

I'll keep you updated with the timetable for further consultation. In the meantime, if you'd like to let me know your views about the traffic situation in Headington, why not fill in my Traffic Survey at www.stephentall.org.uk/surveys/1/

Or, alternatively, just drop me a line at stephen@stephentall.org.uk.
