The London Road Study consultation begins today, 27th June, and will run for just three weeks, until 18th July. The ridiculously foreshortened timetable, seemingly contrived to ensure residents' cynicism is cranked up to the max, comprises three exhibitions and an online feedback form. And, erm, that's it folks. No survey, no newsletter, no meetings…

This abject failure in local democracy does not mean, however, that all of us who care about the London Road and what should be done to make it safer and more pleasant should be thwarted in making our voices heard. I hope everyone who's able will get along to one of the exhibitions that are being mounted:

  • Tuesday, 28th June: Barton Neighbourhood Centre, 3.30 pm to 8 pm.

  • Thursday, 30th June: Clarendon Centre, Central Oxford, 9 am to 6 pm.

  • Saturday, 2nd July: St Andrew's School, 10 am to 4 pm.

Alternatively, the County has set up a few pages on its website - http://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/londonroad - devoted to the London Road Study. They're a bit time-consuming to navigate, and I don't recommend it unless you've got Broadband; but it's all there. I'm setting up a special webpage on this site for the duration too.

Please do tell any of your friends and neighbours who re interested about the consultation. Some of the proposals are quite radical, and it's vital local people are given every possible chance to comment.
