Cllr Stephen Tall has welcomed this site's opinion poll finding that 55% oppose any attempt by the local councils to introduce charging for residents' parking.

"This is the wrong plan at the wrong time," comments Stephen. "Headington should be saved from this unfair proposal, especially as the hospitals here benefit people across Oxfordshire.

"Residents' parking schemes have been introduced in Headington in response to the hospitals' expansion. They are designed to protect local people from the resulting parking problems, and to reduce congestion. It is, therefore, only fair that residents in the city and county also bear the costs of this scheme, and not just the people of Headington."

Stephen and his city colleague, Cllr David Rundle, have launched a Keep Residents' Parking Free campaign to help fight the proposal. Residents can sign the petition at www.stephentall.org.uk/petitions/2.html

"The more signatures we get, the more powerful our voice will be. Working together, we hope residents and councillors can stop this proposal in its tracks," concludes Stephen.
